A Phoenix Will Always Rise from the Ashes

Hello all It has been almost 2 months since I had posted anything.  A lot has happened since then.  This will not be a long post, gonna keep this short and sweet.  On November 27th, I had to have a full foot reconstruction surgery with an achilleas tendon lengthening.  I had been suffering for a year with a foot injury, one that had gotten worse due to being misdiagnosed twice.  I had gone to urgent care when I noticed my foot was swelling and I was having a hard time walking.  They did x-rays and came back to tell me there was no fractures, no cracks or any indications that it was broken.  They put me on steroids, which should never be prescribed to diabetics, and told to just rest, ice, compress and elevate.  About 3 weeks after that I went to see my endocrinologist and she referred me to see a podiatrist, I went and they told me my arch had flattened, and the pain and swelling had developed from tendonitis.  He told me to get shoe inserts for an arch support and gave me another scr

Hospital Stay

Welcome back, this post is about my hospital stay after bariatric surgery.  I had my bariatric surgery on August 15th at 9 a.m. and had to arrive at the hospital at 6 a.m. After a very successful surgery, I was in recovery for about 3 hours.  It took me a little while to come to after surgery.  Once I woke up they shortly after moved me to a private recovery room while I waited for a room on the floor.  They let me mom, dad and my step mom come back and see me and ask how I was doing.  I had to get up and walk before I finally had a room on the floor.  Getting up and walking around was difficult at first but it wasn't too bad.  I really had to go to the bathroom though so I definitely had to stop at the bathroom. About maybe 10 minutes after that they moved me up to the floor where I would be staying over night.  Once up there a few nurses talked to me about using an Airlife inhalation machine to measure my inhalation intake. Also, talked to me about ordering from the kitchen soon

The Beginning

Welcome back everyone! In this particular post I am gonna talk about the beginning of my journey with my bariatric surgery journey.  This will also show just how the whole lead up process went.  So let me start from the beginning. April 2022, I had signed up for a info session for the bariatric surgery center out of Huntley, Illinois.  On the night of April 24th I had attended the info session via a teams meeting link.  After the session the center sent everyone who had attended the session an email with paperwork for everyone to fill out and start the process.  Skip forward to Middle of March 2023, I had my sleep study done.  That was not a fun experience.  I do not sleep well in places I am not familiar with as is, but to have at least 10+ wires all hooked up to you made it worse.  But I got it done and I could finally send over all the paperwork.  I had a delay in sending the paperwork because I had some other stuff going on and when I called in September 2022 to schedule the sleep

Welcome to my Bari-Tale!

Hi everyone!! Welcome to my Bari-Tale!  This blog is another way to see my updates of my bariatric surgery.  I had my surgery back on August 15th and it has been such an amazing adventure! Let me start from the beginning, I have been overweight for most of my life.  Obviously, when I was younger I was more the average weight for kids my own age but I eventually was considered obese.  I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes back in the summer of 2006.  Just before my freshmen year of high school.  I have struggled with my weight and health for most of my adult life and I was in a huge amount of denial when it came to my diabetes.  I didn't take it seriously and I didn't take my medicine and I still continued to just eat whatever I wanted and didn't care about the consequences. Flash forward to about 6 years ago, I was seeing my endocrinologist and they had suggested to me that I should look into weight loss surgery.  Now this was after I was hospitalized for cellulitis in my l
